UPI Lite Auto top-up feature: Starting October 31, users will be able to use the auto top-up option to redecorate an amount of their choice into their UPI Lite account.

UPI Lite Auto top-up feature: There is good news for UPI Lite users. Soon users are going to get the facility of auto top-up. This will get rid of the hassle of adding balance to their account again and again. According to a circular of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), from October 31, users will be able to use the auto top-up option to re-deposit the amount of their choice in their UPI Lite account.

The amount selected by the user will be automatically added to the UPI Lite account

According to the NPCI circular, the UPI Lite balance will be automatically reloaded with the amount chosen by the user. The aim is to allow users to load up to Rs 2000 in their UPI Lite wallet at any time and make payments of up to Rs 500 from the wallet without the use of UPI PIN.

However, it is important to note that reloading will never exceed the UPI Lite balance limit, which is Rs 2,000. Additionally, users will also be able to turn off the auto top-up option at any time.

UPI Lite Auto Top-up Guidelines

NPCI has directed that issuing banks will support the facility of auto top-up on UPI Lite, wherein banks will allow creation of UPI Lite mandate and debit on receipt of request.

NPCI has also directed that UPI apps shall support the necessary functionality and interface on their platforms to enable users to use Auto Top-up on UPI Lite.

Additionally, members will ensure that the mandate is executed successfully and all necessary verifications are in process.

A maximum of five auto-replacement transactions will be allowed per day for each UPI Lite account.

NPCI has also directed that the issuing bank shall ensure necessary communication to the customer for all mandate related activities.
