New Delhi : Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), one of the largest insurance companies in the country, was established on this day. LIC was started on 1 September, 9 years after independence from British rule, with an effective tagline like 'With life, after life'. The purpose of this organization was to provide insurance services to millions of people in the country.
This day is also recorded in history for another reason. Today, there are many online facilities available in the name of dictionary, but there was a time when there used to be thick books in the name of dictionary for literate people and preparing a dictionary was considered a very difficult task. As soon as the dictionary is mentioned in India, the name of Father Kamil Bulke comes to mind. Bulke was also born on September 1.

2018 : Boxer Amit Panghal won the gold medal in the 49 kg category at the Jakarta Asian Games. He became the eighth Indian boxer overall to win a gold medal at the Asian Games. 2018 : Pranab Bardhan and Shibanath Sarkar won the gold medal in the men's doubles bridge event of the Jakarta Asian Games.
2020 : Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee was cremated with full state honours in Delhi. He died on the evening of 31 August after being hospitalised for several days.
