Friends, if you also shop using UPI and are tired of entering the PIN every time while making payment, then this news is for you! Soon your UPI payment method can change completely, and this change is going to bring both security and simplicity for you. Let's know about this new feature in detail.
The era of biometric authentication is about to come!
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has recently announced that it is preparing to bring a big change in the UPI payment system. Now you will not have to remember a four or six digit PIN every time, because NPCI is planning to introduce biometric authentication. In this, you will be able to make payments using fingerprint on your Android phone and Face ID on iPhone.
UPI PIN will become a thing of the past ![🕒]()
If this new system is implemented, then the existing UPI PIN system will become history. Till now we all have been using PIN for UPI payments, but after this change, this system will be replaced by biometrics. This means that now your payment will be done by your fingerprint or face recognition, which will make your security even stronger.
Part of RBI initiative
This step is being taken after the recent suggestions given by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). RBI had suggested options like biometrics for additional identity verification (AFA) in digital transactions. The main objective of this initiative is to make digital payments even more secure.
Users will get many options for transactions
NPCI is discussing the financial and legal aspects of the partnership with startups. If everything goes well, initially both PIN and biometric authentication systems will be available. This means that users will get multiple options for transactions. Whether you use PIN or biometric authentication, it will completely depend on your convenience.
A new era of secure payments
This change will not only make payments easier but will also help combat financial fraud. NPCI aims to make UPI transactions more secure by taking full advantage of the biometric capabilities present in smartphones.
When will this change be implemented? ![⏳]()
At present, there is no official announcement regarding the date of implementation of this change. But it is certain that when this change comes, making UPI payments will become easier and safer than before. Now it remains to be seen when NPCI implements this new facility and when will all of us be able to avail its benefits.
