The Department of Information Technology (DIT) Chandigarh, in partnership with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Chandigarh, arranged Aadhaar enrolment camps at the Juvenile Observation Home for Boys in Sector 25 and the Pingalwara Society Centre in Sector 55, marking a significant step towards the integration of marginalized segments of society into the mainstream.
During these sessions, 57 enrollments and updates were completed successfully. These camps’ main goal was to make it easier for those residing in these facilities to apply for Aadhaar cards so they would have the required identity to receive different government benefits and services.
This program is a testament to the UIDAI’s and the UT Administration’s dedication to improving citizen welfare and community assistance. Aadhaar cards will shortly be provided to all registered persons. Aadhaar’s main advantages include providing each individual with a unique identity, streamlining the application process for different welfare programs, improving security and identification procedures, and simplifying access to government benefits and services.
The Chandigarh district magistrate encouraged parents who haven’t enrolled their kids for Aadhaar cards to do so at the just ended district-level Aadhaar monitoring committee meeting. He also urged parents to update their children’s biometrics at local Aadhaar enrollment centers if they have reached the ages of five and fifteen. The purpose of this proactive action is to guarantee that every citizen, particularly those from marginalized groups, may use a legitimate identity system to access their rights and benefits.
