New Delhi: Nowadays, most people use online medium for transactions. Transactions through UPI or Internet Banking are most common. People use UPI for all transactions from shopping to money, but many times while making payment, in haste, money accidentally goes into someone else's account. If this happens to you too, do not panic. RBI has some guidelines for recovery of money, through which you can get the money back in your account. In this regard, NCIB has also made people aware by sharing posts on social media.
NCIB wrote in a post on X, "If your money accidentally goes into someone else's account while making payment through UPI or Internet Banking, then as per the guidelines issued by RBI, you should immediately lodge a complaint on toll free number 18001201740. Your money will be returned to your account."

NCIB further wrote, 'Keep in mind that if payment is made to the wrong account number through UPI and Net Banking, first lodge a complaint on the above number and then go to the concerned bank and fill the form and inform about it. If the bank refuses to help or refuses to help, then complain against the above bank on http://bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in.'
Keep this very important thing in mind
NCIB said, 'According to the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India, if by mistake during online payment, the amount from a customer's account goes to someone else, then it is the responsibility of the bank to look into the complaint and refund within 48 hours. Remember, always do not delete the message received on the phone after making payment through UPI and net banking. This message contains the PPBL number, which is needed at the time of complaint.
In case of wrong online payment, call the bank and register the PPBL number with all the information and then go to the bank within 3 days and lodge your written complaint there. In the form given to the bank, make sure to provide the transaction reference number, date, amount and the wrong account in which the money was deposited.
