The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is one of the largest social security organizations in the world in terms of the number of its members and the number of financial transactions done in it. At present, about 7.5 crore members are actively contributing to the provident fund, pension, and insurance schemes every month.
In the first 2 months of this financial year itself, about 87 lakh claims were settled in the form of social security benefits like an advance for housing, post-matric education of children, marriage, illness, final provident fund settlement, pension, insurance, etc.

PF members claim these benefits online. This is made possible through a robust computer software application, which validates the member's data in the Universal Account Number (UAN).

In such a scenario, uniformity of members' data in EPFO records is of paramount importance to ensure that services are provided online seamlessly and to the right member, to avoid any risk of wrongful payment or fraud.

You can update your profile online

In this way, the security of data in the members' profiles is being ensured through a standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by EPFO on August 22, 2023. It has now been operated in digital online mode by EPFO. PF members can now get their data like name, gender, date of birth, parent's name, marital status, nationality, Aadhaar, etc. updated by giving online application. Along with the application, you will also have to upload the necessary documents related to your request.

2.75 lakh applications received so far

All such requests are sent to PF offices across the country through the respective employers. Members have also started registering their requests using this new facility. According to EPFO, about 40,000 of these have already been dealt with by the regional offices of EPFO. Let us tell you that till now EPFO has received about 2.75 lakh such applications.
