The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has doubled the existing limit for medical emergencies from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Earlier this claim limit was Rs 50,000 and now it has been increased to Rs 1 lakh. According to the circular issued by EPFO, now you can withdraw Rs 1 lakh.
EPFO has doubled the limit of auto claim settlement under paragraph 68J. It has increased from earlier Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
Withdraw money like this
Go to EPFO website www.epfindia.gov.in and login.
After this click on Online Services option and fill the relevant claim form.
Now it will have to be verified by entering the last 4 numbers of the PF account.
Now click on Proceed For Online Claim and fill Form 31.
After this, fill in the details of your account and upload the soft copy of the check or bank passbook.
Now click on 'Get Aadhaar OTP' and enter it in the form and submit it.
What is Form 31?
To withdraw money in advance from EPF account, employees have to fill Form 31. Under Form 31, employees can withdraw money from the items mentioned below.
Para 68B – For buying a house or flat or getting a house built
Para 68BB – To repay loan taken from bank
Paragraph 68H – For special needs
Para 68J – For treatment of own or family member's illness
Para 68K – For your marriage or children's education or their marriage
Disabled employees can withdraw from PF account under para 68N.
Employees can partially withdraw money under Para 68NN one year before their retirement.
Under paragraph 68J, permission is given to ask for advance for medical needs. These conditions include prolonged hospitalization, major surgery and diseases like tuberculosis, leprosy, paralysis, cancer, mental illness or heart diseases.
