But do you know that the LPG cylinder that comes to your home also has an expiry date? Yes, the LPG cylinder kept in your kitchen also has an expiry date written on it and it is used only for a certain period of time. After which the gas company replaces it with a new cylinder.

However, many people do not know that gas cylinders also have an expiry date and it is safe to replace it if it is too old. LPG is highly flammable. Therefore, it is advisable to replace the cylinder immediately if it is old or damaged. If the gas leaks, it can cause a major accident.

There are three strips on the LPG cylinder that comes to your house, a special kind of code is written on it. This is the expiry date of the cylinder. These codes are A-24, B-25, C-26 or D-27. These codes ABCD tell about the expiry month of the cylinder and the numbers written behind it give information about the year.

A means January, February and March. B means April, May and June. C means July, August, September. D means October, November and December.

Now suppose if A24 is written on your cylinder then the cylinder will expire between January and March in the year 2024. A cylinder lasts for 15 years. The cylinder is tested twice in 15 years. The first testing is done after 5 years and the second after 10 years.
