Uttar Pradesh, March 22: There is good news for nearly 2 crore families of Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Holi. The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is giving free LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana on Holi. The Yogi government had announced this gift last year. In November last year, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a plan to provide free LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries of the state twice a year. These two occasions will be Diwali and Holi. Under this, free cylinders were given to the beneficiaries on Diwali. Now the beneficiaries will be able to get this benefit even during the Holi festival. There are more than 1.75 crore eligible families under this scheme.
What are the conditions?
Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana who are residents of Uttar Pradesh will get the benefit. This means that only the people of the state can avail of the free gas cylinder scheme of the UP government. At the same time, the beneficiaries have to link their bank account with Aadhaar.
First Term Plan
Ujjwala Yojana is a scheme implemented in the first tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started it in the year 2016. Under this, more than 9 crore beneficiaries have been given free LPG connections. Also, the plan to provide 75 lakh additional connections in three years is underway.
How much is the subsidy?
Under the Ujjwala scheme, the central government provides a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder. However, till a few months ago this subsidy was Rs 200. An increase of Rs 100 in this subsidy was announced in October last year. It means that a subsidy of 300 rupees is available. This subsidy will continue till 31 March 2025. Under the scheme, 12 LPG cylinders are available in a year.
