Lucknow: In the city known for its Nawabs, criminals have become so audacious that they are now targeting the advanced security system known as the 'Safe City Project.' This incident occurred in the Gomti Nagar Extension and Shaheed Path areas, where cunning thieves have disabled the cameras used for security and traffic monitoring during the IPL.

Reports indicate that on the night of April 25, thieves made off with valuable equipment from around 40 CCTV cameras installed near Shaheed Path. They skillfully opened the camera boxes and stole switches, batteries, and UPS units, totaling approximately ₹1.25 lakh. As a result of this theft, the 'third eye' installed for security and traffic control on Shaheed Path has become completely ineffective.

It is alarming that these cameras were crucial for monitoring the crowds and VIP movements during IPL matches. The shutdown of these cameras has significantly compromised security in the Gomti Nagar Extension and Shaheed Path areas. Given the seriousness of the situation, the police have filed an FIR and are currently reviewing footage from nearby cameras to uncover the identity of the gang responsible. By challenging the administration's Safe City Project, the thieves have successfully stolen equipment worth ₹1.25 lakh. The police are actively investigating and searching for the culprits.
