Ketapang KONI Chairman Predicts the World Cup Final
The Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) for Ketapang Regency, Theo Bernadhi, shared his predictions for the favourites and potential champions of the 2026 World Cup.
Theo revealed that he considers France as the leading contender in this year’s tournament.
According to him, the French squad boasts a balanced lineup and is filled with highly skilled players who compete in Europe’s top leagues.
“France is my favourite this year because they have an exceptionally strong squad with players performing in top European leagues,” he said in an interview with Tribun Pontianak on Sunday, 7 June 2026.
Theo further predicted that France would once again lift the World Cup trophy this year.
He believes that the experience and quality of the Les Bleus squad give them a strong advantage to reclaim the world title.
France last won the World Cup in 2018 after defeating Croatia 4-2 in the final.
In the 2022 World Cup, France once again displayed impressive form, reaching the final before being edged out by Argentina in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Theo also forecasted that the 2026 World Cup final would feature a showdown between France and the Netherlands, with France emerging victorious by a final score of 2-1.
“My prediction is that the final will be France against the Netherlands, and France will win 2-1 after extra time,” he concluded.
