California. In the Group D match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, co-host America gave a strong performance and made a winning start in the tournament by defeating Paraguay 4-1 on Saturday. In the match played at SoFi Stadium in California, striker Folarin Balogun played an important role in the victory by scoring two goals.

America played aggressively from the beginning of the match and took the lead in the seventh minute. Paraguayan midfielder Damien Bobadilla accidentally kicked the ball into his own goal while attempting to stop the ball, giving the United States an early lead.

After the first goal, the American team maintained constant pressure. Paraguay’s defense seemed to be disintegrating in front of the American attacks and taking advantage of this, Folarin Balogun scored two goals in the first half to give America a strong 3-0 lead.

At the beginning of the second half, America’s star player Christian Pulisic was rested by coach Mauricio Pochettino. After this the team could not score additional goals, but maintained control over the match.

For Paraguay, substitute player Mauricio reduced the gap by scoring a goal in the 74th minute, but the team could not make a comeback. In the last moments of the match, Giovanni Reyna scored the fourth goal to ensure a big 4-1 victory for America. With this victory, America has temporarily reached the top position in Group-D. Now the second match of the group will be played between Turkey and Australia.
