Midland law enforcement is actively searching for Victor Mata Villarreal, who allegedly discharged a firearm at an officer during a traffic stop on June 10. Fortunately, the officer was unharmed, and Villarreal reportedly fled the scene after the officer returned fire. Authorities have not confirmed if this incident is linked to a subsequent shooting and standoff that occurred in Midland, Texas, on June 12.
The violent episode began early Friday in the 4600 block of West Wall Street, where police responded to reports of gunfire, leading to a standoff with a suspected shooter. City officials later announced that the standoff concluded with the suspected shooter deceased. Reports indicate there were 11 victims, including at least one fatality at the scene, while several others were taken to the hospital.
