Earlier their number was 148. The number of assistant directors has also been increased from 255 to 531.
However, there has been no change in the number of posts of Directors and Special Directors. Whereas earlier there were 355 enforcement officers. Now their number has been increased to 606. The number of assistant enforcement officers has been increased from 425 to 803. The number of senior private secretaries among the support staff has been reduced to four. Two new posts of Additional Director have also been created in the Adjudication Branch. There will be three joint directors, five deputy directors and 10 assistant directors. All these new posts have been created. There will also be a special director in the adjudication department.
A new post of Internal Financial Advisor has been created in the ministerial cadre. The number of Assistant Directors of Official Language will now be six instead of three. There will be 30 superintendents instead of 20. The number of assistants will be 65. Earlier this number was 57. If we talk about security department, the number of senior constables was increased from 209 to 273. On the other hand, the salary level of system analysts and scientific technical assistants has been increased.
Now ED will be in more action
The government believes that the huge increase in the number of officers in ED will strengthen its operational and administrative capacity. Not only will there be a speed up in the investigation of increasing cases of money laundering and financial crimes, but there will also be speed in other legal proceedings including filing of charge sheets in the court. With the help of these employees, the central agency will be able to handle many cases simultaneously.
