New Delhi: A big change may soon be seen in the rules of cricket. International Cricket Council i.e. ICC is preparing to implement many new rules in playing conditions. There is a lot of discussion in the cricket world regarding these proposals.

The biggest change is to Test cricket. Now both red and pink balls can be used in the same test match. Apart from this, there will be new rules regarding T20 break time, coach’s entry on the field and bowling action.

Approval may be given in ICC board meeting on 30th May

According to the report of Cricbuzz, ICC is serious on these changes. These proposals can be approved in the board meeting to be held in Ahmedabad on May 30. If everything remains in place, the new rules will come into effect from October 1, 2026. This has been discussed in the virtual meeting of the ICC Chief Executives Committee. Cricket Committee Chairman Sourav Ganguly was also present in the meeting.

Both red and pink balls can be seen in test matches

Let us tell you that the most shocking proposal of ICC is regarding Test cricket. If the match has to be played under floodlights due to bad light or weather, then with the consent of both the teams, the pink ball can be used in place of the red ball. This will be the first time that two types of balls will be seen in the same Test. However, the picture is not yet clear regarding the process of changing the ball in the middle of the match and its effect on the players.

Coach will be allowed to come on the field in ODI

Actually ICC is going to make changes in ODI cricket also. Under the new rule, the head coach will be able to go to the field and talk to the players during the drinks break. Currently only substitute players go to the field with drinks. Coaches already have this permission in T20 International. If this rule is implemented then the strategy will be seen being made directly on the field in ODI also.

Break time of T20 matches will be reduced

To make T20 International faster, ICC is considering reducing the break between innings. Currently there is a break of 20 minutes between both the innings. According to the proposal it can be reduced to 15 minutes. This means players will get 5 minutes less for rest and planning.

Strict action against suspicious bowling action

It is noteworthy that ICC is now going to be strict on chucking also. The proposal is to allow on-field umpires to use Hawk-Eye data. With this, the bowler’s action can be checked during the match itself. With the implementation of this rule, disputes over suspicious actions can be reduced.
