Delhi's startup 'Carryman' is making shopping easier in crowded markets. It offers assistants for bag lifting and other help from ₹149/hour. This service is especially useful for the elderly, pregnant women and parents.
New Delhi: Anyone who has been to the famous street markets of Delhi knows that shopping here is a lot of fun, but it is equally tiring. Navigating the crowds of Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Nagar, carrying heavy shopping bags and trying to eat street food, all this can be very stressful. On top of that, Delhi's heat, traffic, long walks and bargaining with shopkeepers, all this makes even a simple shopping trip a tiring task.

Now, a Delhi-based startup 'CarryMen' is trying to make shopping easier. This startup trend provides assistants who carry your bags and help you move around the crowded markets comfortably. The startup's simple idea, 'You shop, we pick up', is now gaining attention online and is being talked about on social media.
Idea emerged from everyday shopping problems
The founders of CarryMan said that the idea came from their experiences growing up in Delhi and visiting crowded local markets with their family. According to a report in India Today, the startup says that people love shopping, but they hate the physical stress that comes with it. Carrying heavy bags, standing in lines, finding a place to sit and long walks through crowded streets gets tiring very quickly.
To solve this problem, the company started the service of shopping assistants who accompany customers in the market. At Rs 149 per hour and Rs 79 for 30 minutes, buyers can hire a trend helper for two, three or four-hour packages. This assistant carries shopping bags, helps customers in crowds, waits in food queues, guides them to parking or metro stations and provides basic support during shopping trips. The company is currently operating mainly in Lajpat Nagar and plans to expand to Chandni Chowk soon.
The service is also helpful for the elderly and parents
The startup says that many of the customers using this service are elderly women who come to buy clothes, curtains, bedsheets and household items. According to the founders, elderly customers often need simple support, not luxury. Some people just want someone to carry their bags, help them order food, or find a comfortable place to sit during a long shopping trip. The startup promises the following:
- Verified Shopping Helpers
- Help at many shops
- Safe and comfortable shopping in the market
To make things even easier, the company has also introduced portable foldable chairs. If customers feel tired, assistants can set up a chair in the middle of the market for them to rest. This service also includes help like umbrellas for heat and rain, mobile charging support, power banks and water bottles.
CarryMan has also taken bookings from pregnant women and parents with small children. The company also offers stroller rentals for an additional hourly fee to help families navigate busy shopping areas with ease. The weight limit for an assistant is currently 12 kg. Customers carrying heavy luggage can hire additional helpers.
Startup got rapid growth after launch
The company officially launched in April and says it has completed more than 50 bookings in its first month alone. Interestingly, much of its popularity has come from word-of-mouth and organic social media discussions, rather than influencer marketing campaigns.
The concept quickly went viral online as many people found the idea fun, relatable, and surprisingly practical all at the same time.
All kinds of reactions on social media, from praise to jokes.
The startup received mixed reactions online after videos and posts of the service went viral on Instagram and other platforms. Many users praised the idea and called it a useful solution for the crowded Indian markets.
Some users commented, "What a great concept," while others wrote, "Thank God someone finally thought of this," and "Chandni Chowk needs this." Many people joked about emotional support instead of physical support. One user asked, “Will someone also carry my emotional baggage?” Others questioned whether customers could trust strangers with expensive shopping bags, children or personal items in crowded places. One comment read, "What if someone runs away with wedding lehengas or expensive sarees?"
Another user wrote, "Isn't it risky? What if the person disappears with the bag, wife and children?"
Some social media users also linked this startup to the rising unemployment in India, and said that people are now ready to do any kind of work to earn. At the same time, many users compared this service with traditional market workers, railway porters and helpers already seen in vegetable markets and wholesale markets.
A modern solution, but with emotional memories attached too
While startups like CarryMan can reduce the physical stress of shopping, many online also pointed out that shopping memories are often associated with loved ones accompanying us. For years, fathers, brothers, husbands and friends have been quietly carrying bags, waiting outside trial rooms and wandering through crowded markets just to spend time with each other. And if you feel like your loved ones need a break from carrying endless shopping bags, the Carryman might be a good option to try. Carryman can make your shopping lighter and more comfortable!
