BCCI’s mega plan ready, domestic season will start with Duleep Trophy, more than 1700 matches will be played

BCCI Domestic Season Schedule: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the schedule of the Indian domestic cricket season 2026-27. This time the domestic calendar is going to be very busy, because a total of 1788 matches including different age groups and formats will be played in the entire season. Many big tournaments will be organized in both men’s and women’s categories, in which senior and junior level teams will participate.

New domestic season will start from 23rd August

The domestic cricket season will start with the Duleep Trophy from 23 August 2026. Six zonal teams will participate in this prestigious tournament. The final match of the tournament will be played from September 10. After this, Irani Cup will be organized from October 1, while its final is scheduled to be played on October 5.

This time, keeping in mind the workload of the players, BCCI has decided to conduct some big tournaments in two phases. This will allow the players to get adequate time for rest and preparation in between.

Ranji Trophy will be played in two phases

Ranji Trophy, the biggest red-ball competition of Indian domestic cricket, will be organized in two parts this time too. In the Elite Group of Ranji Trophy, 32 teams will be divided into four groups, while the Plate Group will consist of six teams.

The first phase of the tournament will be played from 11 October to 5 November. After this the second phase will start from January 17. The knockout matches will be played between 9 February and 3 March. Similarly, Colonel C.K. Naidu Trophy will also be organized in two phases.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will start in November

Domestic T20 season starts from November 14 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Will be with. The knockout matches of this tournament will be played from 30 November to 6 December. After this, Vijay Hazare Trophy will start from 14th December, while its knockout matches will be held from 2nd January to 8th January.

Special focus on women and junior cricket also

In this domestic season, senior, under-23, under-19 and under-16 level tournaments will be played in the men’s category. Whereas in women’s cricket, Under-23, Under-19 and Under-15 competitions will be organized.

bcci This time has also made some changes to give more opportunities to young players. For under-23 players, Colonel C.K. The contest between the Naidu Trophy champions and Rest of India is being restarted. Apart from this, the Board has decided to change the Men’s Under-23 State A Trophy and Vijay Trophy from ODI to T20 format, so that the young players can prepare themselves better as per the demands of modern cricket.
