Bengaluru: The process of distributing textbooks to schools across Karnataka has begun, and the Education Department aims to complete distribution to all eligible students before schools reopen on May 29.
The Karnataka Textbook Society is printing and distributing more than 900 titles, including books for various language mediums under the state syllabus, core subjects, workbooks for Classes 4 to 9, newly introduced value education books and “Maru Sinchana” books for the current academic year.
Printing based on school demandWork orders have been issued to printers based on the exact requirements submitted by schools through the SATS software system.
Printers are supplying books to taluk-level warehouses, from where distribution to schools has started. Headmasters have been instructed to collect textbooks from taluk warehouses and distribute them to students.
Around 70% books already receivedAccording to a senior official of the Karnataka Textbook Society, nearly 70 per cent of the textbooks have already reached distribution points and the process is underway.
Strict instructions have been issued to ensure textbooks reach students in an organised manner before the reopening of schools.
Full payment mandatory for unaided schoolsEarlier, unaided schools had been instructed to pay 25 per cent advance for textbooks. The Textbook Society has now clarified that books will be distributed only after payment of the full amount.
Schools that had not paid the advance can also receive textbooks after making complete payment.
The society further stated that transportation charges for distribution of free textbooks to government and aided schools will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of headmasters.
Free PDF textbooks available onlineThe official website of the Karnataka Textbook Society provides free PDF versions of textbooks for Classes 1 to 10 in all subjects and mediums.
Students and parents can download the books from: Karnataka Textbook Society website
“We will ensure textbooks reach students before schools reopen. The distribution process has already started, and our goal is that children should have textbooks in hand on the very first day of school,” said Vikas Kishore Suralkar.
