New Delhi.India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received another international honor. Norway has awarded him its highest civilian honour, the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit. The honor is considered Norway’s top civilian decoration, awarded to individuals who have made exceptional service and contributions to strengthening international cooperation.
With this honour, the number of international honors received by Prime Minister Modi so far has increased to 32. This achievement also reflects his growing influence in global diplomatic and diplomatic relations.
According to the official arrangement of the Royal House of Norway, the order was established by King Olav V in 1985. It is awarded to foreign and Norwegian citizens who have made a significant contribution to the interests of Norway or humanity.
This visit of Prime Minister Modi is also being considered historic because it is his first visit to Norway and also the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to the country in the last 43 years. On reaching Oslo he was welcomed by the Prime Minister and top leadership of Norway.
During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the third Nordic-India Summit to be held on May 19. In this conference, discussions will be held to further strengthen cooperation between India and Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Norway.
This summit is part of a series of summits previously held in Stockholm (2018) and Copenhagen (2022), which aims to further deepen the strategic partnership between India and the Nordic countries.

The Ministry of External Affairs has described this visit as very important and said that it will give a new direction to cooperation between India and Norway in areas like trade, investment, clean energy, green technology and blue economy. Along with this, the economic partnership between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is also expected to be strengthened. Overall, the visit is not only important for India-Norway relations but also further strengthens India’s global diplomatic position.
