There has been a big increase in the prices of petrol and diesel for the second time within a week. On Tuesday, oil companies have increased the prices in major cities of the country. Now petrol in Delhi has become costlier by 87 paise to Rs 98.64 per litre, while diesel has increased by 91 paise to Rs 91.58 per litre.
Petrol became Rs 109.70 a liter in Kolkata and Rs 107.59 a liter in Mumbai. Petrol reached Rs 104.49 per liter in Chennai. Diesel prices have also increased in a similar manner.

Last week itself, both petrol and diesel had increased by Rs 3 each. Despite this, oil companies are still incurring a loss of about Rs 750 crore every day. This increase has come at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed to people to save fuel and save foreign exchange.
