A devastating accident occurred on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Palghar, Maharashtra, when a container truck collided with another truck carrying wedding guests. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals. According to local police from Kasa, the smaller truck was transporting over 40 guests to a wedding celebration. The collision happened around 4 AM, causing significant damage to the second truck.
As both vehicles overturned, several passengers became trapped in the wreckage. Following the crash, local residents, police, and rescue teams rushed to the scene. Approximately 25 individuals sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Kasa sub-district hospital.
The accident led to temporary traffic disruptions on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. Authorities have initiated an inspection of the site and are investigating the precise causes of the crash. Preliminary police inquiries suggest that excessive speed and negligence may have contributed to the incident.
