New Delhi: The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz remains one of India’s most comfortable C-segment sedans, known for its spacious cabin, smooth driving experience, and fuel-efficient engines. Although the model last received a major update in 2018, it continues to attract budget-conscious family buyers in the pre-owned market due to its practicality and low running costs.
Engine options and mileage performance
The Ciaz was offered with both petrol and diesel powertrains. The petrol version came with a 1.5-litre K15B engine producing 103hp and 138Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. It delivers a fuel efficiency of around 21.5 kmpl.
Diesel options included a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced engine producing 90hp and 200Nm, and a short-lived 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 95hp and 225Nm. The diesel variants offered mileage between 26 kmpl and 28 kmpl, making them ideal for high-usage buyers.
Variants, features and comfort
The sedan was sold in Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims, with a sportier “S” variant introduced later. Top models came equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, LED lighting, cruise control, automatic climate control, keyless entry, and alloy wheels.
Lower variants like Delta still offer essential features, making them a value-for-money choice in the used market.
What to check before buying a used Ciaz
Suspension wear is a known concern, especially bushings that may need replacement over time. Buyers should also verify whether the Motor Generator Unit recall on mild-hybrid models has been addressed.
Infotainment glitches, underbody scratches, and dashboard rattles are other common issues that should be inspected during a test drive.
Price and market value
A used Ciaz typically costs between ₹5 lakh and ₹7 lakh depending on condition, variant, and engine choice. While demand is moderate, its strong brand trust ensures stable resale value.
With Maruti’s wide service network and affordable maintenance, the Ciaz remains a practical used sedan option for family buyers seeking comfort and efficiency.
