Manhunt Concludes in Austin

The Austin Police Department has rescinded a shelter-in-place directive that was in effect for a significant portion of the city's southern region following a comprehensive manhunt related to a series of weekend shootings. Authorities were actively pursuing three individuals suspected of involvement in multiple shooting incidents. In a recent update, police confirmed the apprehension of two suspects, while a third remains unaccounted for in the adjacent Manor area.

Police Chief Lisa Davis stated, "The shelter in place for the south Austin area has been lifted, and two suspects are in custody. One remains at large in the Manor area. More information to follow." The suspects are believed to be connected to at least ten shooting incidents reported over the weekend. Fortunately, there have been no fatalities; however, one individual sustained serious injuries, and three others experienced minor injuries. Details regarding the victims and the specific circumstances of the shootings have not been disclosed.

Most of the reported incidents occurred in south Austin, although the exact locations have not been made public. Investigators are focusing on several vehicles that are thought to have been utilized by the suspects during the shootings. The suspects reportedly used various cars, including a black or dark blue Hyundai Sonata, a silver Mazda, a gold Hyundai sedan, and more recently, a white Kia Optima.

Chief Davis has urged the community to take precautions against vehicle theft, advising residents not to leave their cars unlocked and to avoid leaving keys or key fobs inside their vehicles. The suspects have been described as males in their late teens, and police have released an image of one of the individuals they are seeking.

During the manhunt, a shelter-in-place order was enforced across a large area of south Austin, bordered by Slaughter Lane, McKinney Falls Parkway, Ben White Boulevard, and Escarpment Boulevard. Residents were advised to stay indoors while law enforcement conducted their search. Authorities are requesting assistance from the public and have announced a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.
