Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals will face each other in a decisive match today to make their place in the playoffs. Actually, this clash will be played as the second match on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. This match is a ‘do or die’ situation for both the teams. It is very important for both the teams to win to remain in the race for the playoffs. Delhi Capitals is currently at seventh position in the points table with 10 points from 12 matches. Rajasthan Royals are at fifth position with 12 points in 11 matches.

Actually both the teams will face each other for the 32nd time in IPL history. In the 31 matches held so far, Delhi and Rajasthan have maintained an equal record by winning 15 matches each. One match was tied, which Rajasthan won. This will be the second clash between the two teams this season. The last match played in Jaipur was won by Delhi Capitals.

Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Suryavanshi face to face

The most interesting clash in the match will be between Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav has scored 440 runs in 11 matches in the current season at a strike rate of 236.55, which includes 40 sixes. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc, who has taken more than 400 Test wickets, sometimes proves to be very expensive in the IPL and sometimes bowls match-winning spells. If he gets swing and seam early on, it may be difficult for Vaibhav Suryavanshi to score runs.

Do or die match for Delhi Capitals

The biggest concern for Delhi Capitals is the poor form of their spin pair. Captain Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav have neither been able to take wickets nor been successful in stopping runs this season. Barring Lungi Ngidi, Delhi’s pace attack is also performing mediocrely. T Natarajan and Mukesh Kumar have proved expensive. Akshar Patel is the top wicket taker for the team, while KL Rahul remains the top run scorer of the team with 477 runs in 12 matches.

Captain Riyan Parag’s form remains a matter of concern for Rajasthan Royals. He has scored 207 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 143. However, the trio of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel can overwhelm the Delhi bowlers. Vaibhav is the team’s top run scorer by scoring 440 runs in 11 matches. Rajasthan’s bowling attack is strong. Joffra Archer is the team’s top wicket taker with 15 wickets.
