New Delhi: CBI got another success on Saturday (16 May 2026) in the NEET paper leak case. The investigating agency has arrested another mastermind of this case from Delhi. So far, a total of 9 arrests have been made in this case.
Who is this new mastermind?
According to media reports, CBI has arrested Pune’s senior Botany teacher Manisha Gurunath Mandhare from Delhi. This arrest took place after a long interrogation. CBI said that Manisha Mandhare was involved as an expert in the examination process of NEET-UG 2026 on behalf of NTA. Because of this he had direct access to the question papers of Botany and Zoology.
The questions were told to the students in advance
In fact, investigation revealed that in April 2026, Manisha Mandhare along with already arrested accused Manisha Waghmare gathered students. After this, he ran special coaching classes at his home in Pune.
In these classes, Manisha told the students possible questions from Botany and Zoology. The children were made to write those questions in notebooks and also mark them in the books. CBI claims that most of these questions appeared exactly in the NEET-UG examination held on May 3, 2026.
Raids continue across the country
CBI has raided six different locations in the country in the last 24 hours. During this period, many important documents, laptops, bank statements and mobile phones have been recovered. All these are being investigated. The agency suspects that more people may be involved in this racket. CBI investigation is still going on and there are chances of more arrests in this case.
The mastermind was caught earlier also
It is noteworthy that earlier on Friday, CBI had arrested another mastermind of this case from Pune. Within three days of the beginning of the investigation, CBI had arrested Professor PV Kulkarni. Kulkarni, a resident of Latur, is an expert in chemistry and has been associated with the committees making NEET papers for many years. CBI is considering him as the main source of paper leak. He was taken into custody from his Pune home.
