Haridwar:To promote electronic vehicles, the Uttarakhand government is preparing to implement a new EV policy soon. Let us tell you, the state government says that in view of the increasing energy crisis and dependence on petrol and diesel in the future, their use will have to be minimized, for which it is becoming necessary to promote electric vehicles. Under this, the government is planning to bring a new policy, which can provide great relief to the general public as well as the industrial companies.
The policy will be in the cabinet
In this connection, while speaking in his camp office on Friday, State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the new EV policy will soon be presented in the cabinet so that it can get approval as soon as possible. The Chief Minister further said that in view of the ongoing tension in the Gulf region and the oil-gas crisis at the global level, there is a need to find better options for energy resources so that they can be promoted. Although the situation is currently under control in India, but keeping the future in mind, the state government is working on a new strategy as soon as possible.
Discount for people buying electric vehicles
Under the new strategy, the Chief Minister, while explaining his plan, has said that those who will buy electric vehicles and encourage people to buy them, they will be given more discounts. Along with this, EV manufacturing companies and people investing in the industry will also be linked to this policy so that new job opportunities can be created. The government said that along with environmental protection, it is also necessary to promote economic cooperation and industrial development.
He told that at present exemption in registration and road tax is being given on electric vehicles in the state, but under the new policy, buyers will get more benefits. Apart from this, a plan is also being made to create a large network of EV charging stations across the state, for which the Transport and Industry Department has been asked to prepare a detailed draft.
There will be a decrease in oil imports
The Chief Minister said that we have limited quantity of natural resources and due to international circumstances it has become clear that we will have to pay special attention towards alternative energy. CM believes that increasing the use of EV vehicles will reduce environmental pollution. Along with this, the burden of money spent by the common people on fuel will also reduce and the import of oil in the country will also reduce. Let us tell you, the government has decided to celebrate No Vehicle Day every Saturday to promote energy conservation. However, no instructions have been issued regarding this yet.
