Uttarakhand No Vehicle Day : Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently appealed to the people for fuel saving and energy conservation. Now in this sequence, Uttarakhand has taken an important decision. In order to promote energy conservation and judicious use of resources, Director General Information Banshidhar Tiwari has issued instructions to celebrate every Saturday as “No Vehicle Day” in the Information Department, in accordance with the instructions received from the Government of Uttarakhand.
Adopt alternatives like bicycle
Director General Information has appealed to the departmental officers and employees to adopt options like public transport, bicycle to commute to office every Saturday. He said that small efforts can collectively bring big positive changes and this initiative will strengthen the national campaign for energy conservation.
Important contribution in environmental protection
He also said that the department itself will set a positive example to the society by adopting this initiative. “No Vehicle Day” will not only save fuel but will also ensure significant contribution to environmental protection by reducing carbon emissions.
