Bengaluru, 15 May 2026: Indian cricket’s star batsman Virat Kohli has recently made many important revelations in the podcast of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) regarding his international career and the 2027 ODI World Cup. Virat has clearly said that he will play cricket only as long as he feels that he is contributing to the team and the team also considers it necessary. However, he has given a big statement giving priority to respect and trust.
Speaking in the podcast, Virat said, “My point of view is very clear. If I can add value to the environment I am a part of and the team also feels that I should play, then only I will enter the field. But if I am made to feel that I have to prove my value and importance again and again, then I do not want to stay in that place.” This statement of Virat has come at a time when reports have been coming for a long time that the situation in the dressing room of Team India is not normal. This statement is very indicative after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli suddenly announced their retirement from Test and amid questions raised about their commitment for the 2027 World Cup. Especially the differences with coach Gautam Gambhir and the controversy over removal of Rohit Sharma from the post of captain after Champions Trophy 2025 have also gained momentum.
No compromise with honor and self-respect
Expressing his anger over the questions being raised about his place in the team, Kohli said, “Well, on the very first day, clearly say that I am not capable or I am not needed. But it is not right to show confidence one day and question the capability the next day.” He added that he is ready to run to the boundary for 40 overs for the team, but he will not compromise with honor and self-respect. Talking about statistics, Virat is still the best. He has scored 14,797 runs in 311 ODI matches with 54 centuries and 77 half-centuries. Last year also he was the highest run scoring batsman for India. Virat can be seen again in the field in the ODI series against Afghanistan in June, which is considered important for the preparations for the 2027 World Cup.
