Zuckerberg announces new privacy features
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself announced the feature via his WhatsApp channel. He described Incognito Chat as a private and secure way to interact with AI, designed to work just like end-to-end encrypted messaging.
According to Zuckerberg, the chat done through this mode will not be able to be read by Meta, WhatsApp or any third party. This privacy feature is available specifically for interactions with Meta AI only.
Highlights of the Incognito Chat feature
Users can chat privately with Meta AI on WhatsApp.
Conversations made in Incognito Chat mode will not be stored on Meta’s servers.
The conversation will automatically disappear after the chat session ends.
This feature is also available on the Meta AI app.
Meta claims that the company itself cannot access these AI conversations.
How does Incognito Chat work?
Meta explained that this feature works using Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), which processes AI- requests in an isolated and secure environment.
Additionally, as soon as an Incognito Chat session ends, the conversation is automatically deleted from the user’s device. Zuckerberg said this is what makes this feature different from many other AI chat services, where conversation data can remain stored on servers for a long time.
