Petrol and diesel prices increased so much in neighboring countries

Whenever there is a major crisis at the global level, it directly impacts the pockets of the common man. Due to the current tension in the Middle East and the collapse of the global supply chain, the entire world is in the grip of severe inflation. The skyrocketing prices of crude oil have broken the back of the global economy.

If we look at the data of 24 major countries of the world, we find that fuel prices have increased drastically there. But, in the midst of this terrible global turmoil, when we look towards India, our hearts swell with pride. At a time when the world's most powerful countries are proving unsuccessful in protecting their citizens from inflation, India has kept its citizens safe from this global shock to a great extent on the basis of its excellent diplomacy and strong economic policies.

poor economy of neighbors

India is located in a geographical area where almost every neighboring country is facing serious economic crisis. The people of Pakistan are facing the double blow of inflation, where petrol has become costlier by 54.9 percent and diesel by 44.9 percent. Whereas in Sri Lanka the price of petrol has increased by 38.2 percent and diesel by 41.8 percent.

Even in a small country like Nepal, the price of petrol has increased by 38.2 percent and that of diesel by 58.5 percent. Even in China, which considers itself a superpower, the prices of petrol have increased by 21.7 percent and diesel by 23.7 percent. In Bangladesh, petrol has become costlier by 16.7 percent and diesel by 15.0 percent. Against these figures, India stands like a strong rock. Here the price of petrol has increased by only 3.2 percent and that of diesel by 3.4 percent.

Chaos in superpowers including Myanmar

This fuel inflation has not spared anyone, from poor to rich countries. The situation is worst in Myanmar, where petrol prices have witnessed a historic jump of 89.7 per cent and diesel has become costlier by 112.7 per cent and has become beyond the reach of the common man. Even America, the world's biggest superpower, could not save its citizens from expensive oil. There petrol has increased by 44.5 percent and diesel by 48.1 percent.

In a big oil producing country like United Arab Emirates (UAE), petrol has become costlier by 52.4 percent and diesel by 86.1 percent. In Malaysia, petrol has increased by 56.3 percent and diesel by 71.2 percent. In the Philippines, petrol has become costlier by 40.6 percent and diesel by 53.8 percent. Similarly, diesel has become costlier by 63.6 percent in South Africa, diesel by 64.7 percent in Singapore, petrol by 29.7 percent in Thailand, diesel by 50.6 percent in Vietnam, petrol by 19 percent in South Korea and petrol by 9.7 percent in Japan.

The crumbling pride of developed western countries

Those countries of Europe, which were proud of their strong economy, have today succumbed to the oil crisis. In the United Kingdom, petrol has become costlier by 19.2 percent and diesel by 34.2 percent. In France, petrol has increased by 20.9 percent and diesel by 31.0 percent. In Belgium, petrol has increased by 25.3 percent and diesel by 30.9 percent. An increase of 13.7 percent in petrol has been recorded in Germany and 15.4 percent in Italy. Apart from this, petrol has jumped by 31.9 percent in Canada, diesel by 43.1 percent in Australia and diesel by 88.6 percent in New Zealand.

India shining amidst global crisis

After looking at the horrific figures of these 24 countries, India's achievement seems no less than a miracle. In a period when the prices of petrol and diesel increased by 50 to 100 percent across the world, the price of petrol in India has increased only by 3.2 percent and that of diesel by 3.4 percent. This is no coincidence, but the result of the visionary strategies of the Government of India. Not only did the government ensure the supply of cheap crude oil at the diplomatic level, but the oil companies themselves bore their losses to provide relief to the common man. Today India has shown the world how a strong leadership can protect the interests of its people even in the biggest global crisis.
