Koppal: At least four people died and several others suffered serious injuries after a tractor lost control and fell from a bridge following a collision with a tanker on National Highway 50 at the border of Vijayanagara and Koppal districts on Friday.
The accident took place near the TB Dam (Tungabhadra Bridge) in Hospet.
According to reports, a speeding tanker hit the tractor from behind while it was moving on the highway. Due to the impact of the collision, the tractor fell from the bridge.
Four people travelling in the tractor died on the spot. The injured were shifted to the government hospital in Hospet for treatment. Officials said the death toll may rise as some of the injured are in critical condition.
Police from Munirabad visited the accident site and are conducting an investigation.
