Mumbai Indians' pacer Deepak Chahar delivered a classic delivery to get his team a crucial wicket in their IPL 2026 clash against the Punjab Kings in Dharamshala on Thursday, May 14.
After an decent start by the Punjab Kings in the first five overs, Chahar handed MI a much-needed breakthrough by cleaning up the opener Priyansh Arya with a perfect slower one.
Batting first on the asking of the MI skipper Jasprit Bumrah, Punjab Kings raced to a decent start as openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh attacked the MI pacers right from the beginning. They smashed quite a few runs at a very quick rate in the first five overs.
Arya looked in good touch, set to go all out in the final over of the powerplay. However, Chahar then brilliantly used his experience in the sixth over to break the partnership at a right time.

MI bowler Chahar first threatening the left-hand batter Arya with a fuller in-swinging delivery and then went on to bowl an even better slower knuckle ball to completely beat the batter, beating Arya for an absolute blinder, Arya played across but the ball went through and hit the stumps.
The breakthrough came after PBKS completely dominated the match at the top, Arya made 22 from 17 deliveries as he hit 4 boundaries, he and Prabhsimran Singh got off to a blazing start yet again for Punjab Kings at the top.

Prabhsimran Continues After Early Lifeline
Mumbai Indians could have broken this opening partnership early but Naman Dhir grassed Prabhsimran Singh off the bowling of Bumrah. The Punjab Kings keeper-batter carried on playing his attacking innings in the powerplay due to this chance. At the end of the 6 overs Punjab Kings are on 55/1. Prabhsimran remains on 27 off 17 balls and Connolly on the other end.
Today's game also sees Bumrah become the first Mumbai Indian captain to lead the side in IPL. He captained the team with the regulars captain Hardik Pandya not featuring, while stand in captain Suryakumar Yadav misses out on personal grounds.
