Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati has these days become the target of the Brahmin community as well as his own people. Voices are being raised against him within the Samajwadi Party itself. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Police has also registered a case against Rajkumar Bhati. Rajkumar Bhati has apologized to the Brahmin community as the controversy escalated, but his troubles do not seem to be reducing.
UP Police has registered a case against him under Section 196(1) of BNS. This section deals with spreading enmity between groups on the basis of religion and community. Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Ajay Sharma had filed a complaint at the Kavi Nagar police station. It was said in the complaint that Rajkumar Bhati’s statement had hurt his religious sentiments.
Rajkumar Bhati became the target of his own people
Ayodhya MLA Pawan Pandey has also opened a front against Rajkumar Bhati. He has said that he will meet Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav and complain. Even though Rajkumar Bhati has apologized for his statement, such statements should be avoided.
Pawan Pandey said, ‘All political parties and leaders have to understand that the responsibility of uniting the society rests on their shoulders, and not of spreading poison by dividing the society into castes. Such people should avoid speaking against any caste, religion or religion. The Brahmin community has always worked to give direction to the nation, culture and society, derogatory comments against such a society cannot be accepted at any cost.
What was Rajkumar Bhati telling that caused the ruckus?
Rajkumar Bhati said, ‘Idioms have been coined from both sides. If they became too worried, they were made from the other side. I am telling one of my memoirs. After completing BA in 1987, I became a reporter in a newspaper. A journalist was telling me this phrase again and again-
‘If these six were not there, Gurjar, Ahir, Kanjar, dog, cat and monkey, they would have slept with open doors.’
Rajkumar Bhati said, ‘Another journalist told me a couplet that you should narrate to them, in which there is mention of a Brahmin and a prostitute. I also said that this couplet was very bad so I never recited it. I also do not consider it right because Brahmins are also very good. But such people, whose minds are filled with evil thoughts, are targeting me by playing its few seconds clip. Sensible people should reach the bottom of the truth after listening to the entire video.
What are people angry about?
The couplet that Rajkumar Bhati had quoted from his friend on Brahmin and prostitute was objectionable. He recited the couplet-
‘Brahmins are not Vaishyas, none of them.
Any prostitute is good, no Brahmin is good.’
On which program of Rajkumar Bhati did the ruckus take place?
Rajkumar Bhati said, ‘The book ‘Virus of Caste and Communalism’ written by Dr. Rafraf Shakeel Ansari and Javed Anwar was launched at Jawahar Bhawan in Delhi. There was discussion on this topic after the inauguration. Apart from me, the speakers included Yogendra Yadav, Ashutosh, Professor Ratan Lal, Sheeba Aslam Fahmi and Bilal Ahmed.
Rajkumar Bhati said, ‘I said in my statement that there are very bad idioms, proverbs and sayings regarding castes in our society. I also said that there are such sayings from both sides which insult the other society.
What has Rajkumar Bhati said in his clarification?
Rajkumar Bhati said, ‘By cutting a 7-second clip from my 12-minute speech, false propaganda is being spread about me that I have insulted Brahmins. If my words have hurt any Brahmin brother, I apologize. I have no such intention, I am a socialist man. True socialists do not speak against any caste. I respect Brahmins. I do not insult any caste. There have been great scholars and warriors among the Brahmins.
Rajkumar Bhati said, ‘You will listen to my 12-minute video. We have created bad sayings about castes. Dalits are not backward, they are made against every class. I refuted them. Listen to my full clip. I have not spoken against anyone. I accept that it is an insulting couplet. Brahmin society is considered an intelligent society. You will listen to the complete video, your complaint is resolved. Brahmin is a respectable caste. Don’t judge me.
What have the political parties said?
UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the real character and hateful thinking of the Samajwadi Party has once again come to the fore. He has described Rajkumar Bhati’s statement as condemnable.
State Congress President Ajay Rai also condemned Bhati’s statement. He said, ‘It is completely wrong to abuse the entire Brahmin community. Mere apology is not enough, disciplinary action should be taken immediately against such leaders.
