Rajesh's brother lodged a complaint at Matlauda police station. Based on this complaint, the police have registered a case under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Madlauda police have registered a case against four people, including daughter-in-law Sneha, her mother, her father and her sister, for harassing the couple. All four accused are reportedly absconding. According to Tribune India report, Sub-Inspector Rakesh Kumar, SHO of Madlauda police station, has confirmed that a case has been registered and investigation is underway. He said that further action will depend on the evidence found in the investigation. Police have also visited the spot as part of the investigation.

Officials are investigating all the claims made by the family. The exact cause of death will be known as the investigation progresses. The case has raised concerns in the local area, as the incident arose from family disputes following a marriage that initially had the consent of both families. Police have said that they are taking the matter seriously and are working to establish the facts.
