Princess Catherine will travel overseas this week with a solo visit to Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy. Whilst his wife travels to Italy, Prince William is set to remain in the UK to care for their three children at their family home in Windsor.

The visit will be the 44-year-old's first overseas trip since her cancer diagnosis in early 2024. Travelling on behalf of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, Catherine will be studying the "Reggio Emilia Approach," an educational philosophy focusing on community-based, early-years education that emphasises nature, creativity, and the role of the child. So what do you think? Vote in our poll below and join the debate in the comments section.

The trip follows her previous work on early childhood development and aligns with her efforts to promote outdoor learning and human connection over excessive screen time for children.

Catherine will arrive in Italy today, May 13, and will travel home to the UK the following day, May 14.

Aides to the royal have shared how she was "very much looking forward" to getting back to international travel.

They also added that the visit was an important moment in the expansion of the Centre for Early Childhood's work on a global stage.

She last carried out an official overseas visit in December 2022 when she went to Boston, USA, with Prince William for his Earthshot Prize award ceremony.

As of early 2025, Catherine announced that she is in remission following her cancer diagonsis in March 2024.

She has been progressing returning to royal duties since after announcing that she is in remission in September 2024.
