Influencer cheated Rs 71 lakh by lying about cancer, luxury lifestyle exposed

Social Media Scam: The desire to gain recognition quickly in the world of social media sometimes takes people on the wrong path. A similar case has come to light from Egypt, where a female influencer has been accused of defrauding lakhs of rupees by lying to her followers.

An influencer named Donia had claimed that she had cancer and needed money for treatment. He shared sad posts and stories on social media, due to which people got emotional and sent financial help. According to reports, he received around 4 million Egyptian pounds, which is equivalent to approximately Rs 71 lakh in Indian rupees.

Influencer cheated by pretending to be a cancer patient

Matters worsened when Donia’s luxury lifestyle started coming to light on social media. In the viral video, she was seen with an expensive car, new house and expensive items. After this, people became suspicious that the donated money was not used for treatment but for fulfilling personal hobbies.

Followers started raising questions as to where the treatment expenses went. After the increasing controversy, the police started investigation and the matter became serious. Ultimately Donia had to surrender before the authorities.

People expressed anger and protest after knowing the truth

Donia later admitted her mistake through a Facebook post. She said that she was going through mental problems and needed medical help. She also admitted that she lied about cancer to get people’s attention.

According to Donia, she started liking the sympathy and attention she received from people when she became ill. After this incident, people are expressing their displeasure on social media and saying that such cases reduce trust even in the real needy.
