NBCUniversal greenlights ‘Four’ Fast & Furious spin-off series: Everything you need to know

Fans of the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise have a major reason to celebrate as NBCUniversal has officially confirmed that four live-action TV series based on the globally successful action saga are currently in development for Peacock.

After months of speculation surrounding the future expansion of the franchise, franchise star and producer Vin Diesel made the announcement during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation on Monday morning. The move marks one of the biggest television expansions for the billion-dollar franchise.

According to reports, Diesel will serve as executive producer for the upcoming projects. The pilot episode is set to be written by Mike Daniels, who recently secured an NBC series order for his adaptation of The Rockford Files. Daniels will work alongside Wolfe Coleman, with both previously collaborating on the crime drama Shades of Blue.

The new projects signal NBCUniversal’s plans to further expand the Fast universe beyond the big screen. Diesel, Neal Moritz and Samantha Vincent Morgan are also attached as executive producers on the animated Fast & Furious Spy Racers series at Netflix from DreamWorks Animation.

The announcement comes during a landmark year for the franchise, as the original The Fast and the Furious celebrates its 25th anniversary. A special screening of the original movie is also scheduled to take place at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year.

Over the course of 11 films, the Fast & Furious franchise has generated more than $7 billion worldwide, making it one of the most successful action franchises in Hollywood history. The final chapter of the saga, titled Fast Foreveris currently scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.

With four live-action series now officially in the works, the Fast & Furious universe is preparing for its biggest expansion yet, giving fans even more high-speed action, family drama, and adrenaline-filled storytelling across streaming platforms.
