New Delhi: WhatsApp Plus is now available to a limited number of iPhone users, according to WABetaInfo. The paid subscription plan brings extra personalisation tools to WhatsApp Messenger, including premium stickers, app themes, new icons, more pinned chats and extra ringtone options.
The feature is still in limited rollout, which means not every iPhone user will see it right now. Users can check inside WhatsApp settings to see if the WhatsApp Plus dashboard is available for their account. The plan does not change normal WhatsApp messaging, calling or privacy features for users who do not pay.
WhatsApp Plus price on iPhone
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Plus is visible to some iOS users on the latest App Store version of WhatsApp. The price shown in Europe is €2.49 per month. In Pakistan, it is listed at PKR 229.00 per month, while in Mexico, the price is $29.00 per month. India pricing has not been mentioned yet.
The subscription renews every month. Users need to cancel it at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next billing cycle. The report says WhatsApp may also offer a free trial to some eligible users for one month or, in some cases, one week.
What features does WhatsApp Plus offer?
WhatsApp Plus is aimed at people who want more control over how the app looks and feels. The basic WhatsApp experience remains unchanged for everyone else.
The current premium features include:
- Premium stickers with animated overlay effects
- 18 app theme colour options
- 14 different app icons
- Option to pin up to 20 chats
- Chat list tools for themes and alert tones
- 10 new call ringtones
At present, normal WhatsApp users can pin up to 3 conversations. WhatsApp Plus increases that limit to 20. For people who keep family groups, office chats, school groups and close friends at the top, this could be a handy upgrade. Maybe too handy, if your boss also gets pinned.
WhatsApp Plus remains optional
WABetaInfo says WhatsApp Plus is only for WhatsApp Messenger and is not available for WhatsApp Business. It is meant for personal users, not business accounts.
The report also notes that non-subscribers will still get full access to messaging, calls and other standard WhatsApp features. The paid plan only adds extra design and control features for users who want them.
WhatsApp is expected to expand access to more users over the coming weeks. More paid tools are also said to be under development for future updates.
