Agartala. The Government of Tripura is striving to operationalize the India-Bangladesh International Friendship Bridge at the earliest, which is a significant achievement for the region. State Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma gave this information. Chakma mentioned the continuous efforts being made by the government to remove the hurdles in the construction of the bridge and get it started. This bridge will play an important role in strengthening the commercial and economic relations between India and Bangladesh. It is being created specifically with an aim to benefit Tripura and the North-Eastern region.
The Commerce Minister emphasized that the bridge will bring efficiency and time savings in goods transportation, which will ultimately boost cross-border trade and business activities, create new employment opportunities for local youth and contribute to regional economic development.
Chakma expressed optimism about the potential of the Friendship Bridge to boost tourism by facilitating better travel and communication between the two neighboring countries. He said, “Seen as a symbol of strong bilateral friendship and cooperation, the bridge, which connects Sabroom in India to Ramgarh in Bangladesh, is raising positive expectations among local residents and businessmen who look forward to better connectivity and trade between the two countries.
