Saidapur: Two persons who were on their way to distribute wedding invitation cards died on the spot in a tragic road accident near Kadechur village on National Highway 150A on Sunday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Shivaraj (60) and Basavalinga (28), residents of Gaudagera village.
According to reports, the two were travelling on a bike to distribute invitation cards for a relative’s wedding when their vehicle allegedly crashed into a tractor carrying sand near the outskirts of Kadechur village.
Due to the impact of the collision, both suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.
It is learnt that the tractor driver abandoned the vehicle at the accident site and fled.
After receiving information about the incident, Saidapur police officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The bodies were later shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
The incident has created a mood of grief in Gaudagera village, where a family preparing for a wedding celebration is now mourning the deaths.
Local residents alleged that illegal sand transportation and rash driving are leading to such accidents. A case has been registered at Saidapur Police Station and efforts are underway to trace the absconding tractor driver.
