The Indian boxing team showcased an impressive display at the Asian Boxing U15 Championships 2026, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with six boxers reaching the finals and seven others earning bronze medals.
Finalists from India
In the 33kg weight class, Yash Kumar achieved a commanding 5:0 victory over Kiyan Iqbal from the UAE, securing his place in the finals. Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar (37kg) also advanced after a strong second-round win against Aziretali Sanzharbekov from Kyrgyzstan.
Samir Bohra, competing in the 43kg category, displayed a composed performance, defeating Adizbek Ilkhombekov of Uzbekistan with a score of 4:1. Sudarsan Vasudeva Chandak (52kg) impressed with a victory in the opening round against Amirmahdi Shad from Iran.
Mohd Yasser, in the 58kg category, recorded a decisive 5:0 win over Seyyedariyamohammad Mousa from Iran. Ronak Parag Lokhande (67kg) completed the list of winners with a first-round victory against Mukhammadali Berdikulov from Kyrgyzstan.
Bronze Medalists
In other semifinal matches, Rohit Pothina (35kg) faced a 0:5 defeat against Zhaksylyk Yermekuly from Kazakhstan. Nitin (40kg) lost a closely fought match, ending 2:3 against Jasurbek Khayrullaev from Uzbekistan.
Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina (46kg) was edged out 2:3 by Mansur Abdukhamitov of Uzbekistan, while Parshant (49kg) suffered a 0:5 loss to Sardor Omonboev from Uzbekistan.
In the 55kg category, Harshvardhan Jeena lost 0:5 to Nurislam Baktubayev from Kazakhstan, and Dev (64kg) was defeated 1:4 by Hyeonseok Yoo from Korea.
Sushant Jayani in the 70+kg category was eliminated in the first round against Ibrokhim Mirzakarimov from Uzbekistan.
Looking Ahead
With seven bronze medals already secured and six boxers confirmed for the finals, the Indian U-15 team is now focused on converting their strong performances into gold medals.
