Urvil Patel produced a historic batting masterclass against Lucknow Super Giants, registering one of the fastest fifties in Indian Premier League history during Chennai Super Kings’s chase of 204 at Chepauk.
The explosive batter brought up his half-century in only 13 deliveries, matching the IPL record earlier set by Yashasvi Jaiswal against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.
CSK got off to a flying start, adding 45 runs in the opening stand. However, the momentum dipped momentarily after Sanju Samson was dismissed for a quickfire 28 off 14 balls by Digvesh Singh Rathi.
Soon after, Urvil Patel arrived at the crease and completely turned the contest on its head. The right-handed hit six sixes within the opening eight balls of an innings. He stormed to 41 runs off just eight deliveries.
His breathtaking knock eventually ended when Shahbaz Ahmed bowled a slower ball outside off stump. Urvil attempted an aggressive shot but ended up finding Avesh Khan at deep extra cover.
Urvil Patel’s explosive innings came to a close at 65 runs from only 23 balls, featuring two boundaries and eight towering sixes in what will be remembered as one of the most destructive innings in IPL history.
