CSK batter Urvil Patel equals Jaiswal's record with 13-ball fifty in IPL

Chennai: Urvil Patel delivered a sensational batting performance for Chennai Super Kings against Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League 2026.

Patel smashed a half-century in just 13 balls, equalling the record for the fastest IPL fifty set by Yashasvi Jaiswal against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.

Coming in at number three, Urvil launched his attack by hammering three consecutive sixes in an over bowled by Avesh Khan. He continued the onslaught against Dinesh Rathi and later tore apart Digvesh Rathi in the sixth over, smashing three sixes and a boundary in a single over for 25 runs.

Patel reached his fifty in style against Mohammed Shami by hitting a six over mid-wicket before taking a single on the next ball to complete the milestone in 13 deliveries.

His explosive innings included seven sixes and two boundaries.

Emotional tribute to father

The 27-year-old Urvil, who has represented Gujarat in domestic cricket and India A, dedicated the historic achievement to his father.

Soon after reaching his fifty, he pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket displaying the message, “This is for you Papa,” leaving fans emotional.
