The 73rd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle transformed the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium into a lively hub of patriotism and fitness. On Sunday morning, personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force joined citizens for a special cycling event themed around the Armed Forces.

Over 800 individuals participated, including 60 armed forces representatives—20 each from the Army, Navy, and Air Force—alongside athletes, fitness enthusiasts, students, and families. Notably, around 15 players from the Indian Air Force Cricket Team also joined the cycling event, creating a striking visual as they cycled in formation through Delhi, as reported by SAI Media.

Dignitaries Commend the Initiative

The event featured several dignitaries, including Group Captain MLS Prasad from the Indian Air Force, Lt Col Dara Singh from the Indian Army, and Captain Manish Sain from the Indian Navy, along with wrestlers Priya Malik and Diksha Malik, both affiliated with the Indian Army.

Group Captain Prasad expressed pride in representing the armed forces, stating, "Our soldier-athletes are leading the cycling contingent, and we are thrilled that Fit India has organized this special edition for us. The goal of the armed forces is to ensure every citizen remains fit."

Lt Col Dara Singh highlighted the initiative's social significance, saying, "We appreciate SAI for partnering with the armed forces today. Events like these promote the spirit of Nasha Mukti and discipline. Just as armed forces personnel maintain an active lifestyle, every citizen should embrace health and fitness, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's vision for a fit India."

A Festive Atmosphere of Fitness

The event felt like a patriotic fitness carnival from the early morning hours, featuring high-energy Zumba sessions, yoga demonstrations, rope skipping, volleyball games, and fun races that kept participants engaged.

A special yoga consultation booth, supported by the Ministry of AYUSH under its Yoga 365 initiative, attracted many attendees, offering wellness assessments and guided sessions with yoga experts. The sight of Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel cycling alongside the public captivated many, with families and children gathering to take photos and cheer on the participants.

Inspiration from Joint Participation

"I have never witnessed anything like this before. Seeing our armed forces cycling with everyday citizens fills you with pride and motivation," remarked Ritu Sharma, a Lodhi Road resident who attended with her family.

College student Aakash Meena added, "The atmosphere felt like a blend of a Republic Day celebration and a fitness festival. The presence of the Army, Navy, and Air Force together inspired everyone here."
