The Uttar Pradesh government has expanded initiatives aimed at increasing the participation of rural women in dairy-related businesses through training programmes, digital systems, and organised producer networks.
Officials said the impact of these programmes is visible in the Awadh region, where thousands of women have reportedly improved their incomes through dairy enterprises.
According to government data, more than 18,000 women in the region have achieved the status of "Lakhpati Didis" through dairy-related activities. Authorities stated that women are now increasingly involved not only in animal husbandry but also in market-linked dairy operations supported by technology-based systems. These systems include digital payment platforms, milk quality testing mechanisms, and mobile applications that allow producers to access information related to sales and payments.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has previously stated that the government aims to strengthen rural livelihoods by promoting women-led economic activities. Officials said more than 1.25 lakh women in the Awadh region have received training in dairy production, quality management, and digital operations. Women associated with the Saamarthya Milk Producer Company are receiving direct payments into their bank accounts at regular intervals, reducing dependence on intermediaries.
The government said the organised dairy network currently includes over 1.25 lakh women members, with daily milk collection exceeding four lakh litres. Officials noted that women-led dairy groups and self-help organisations are contributing to local employment generation and rural economic activity.
Authorities also indicated that similar technology-driven dairy networks may be expanded further in villages across the state as part of broader rural development and women empowerment efforts.
