Similar is the condition of Pakistan's 21 year old opener Azaan Awais. Ajan Awais got a chance to debut in the first match of the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh. What happened then was that he scored a hundred in his debut inning itself. After this success, not only his name was registered among the 14 players but also something was seen in Pakistan cricket, which had not happened for 17 years.

Azan Awais scored a century on the third day of the Pakistan-Bangladesh first Test being played in Dhaka. While opening in Pakistan's first innings, he scored 103 runs in 165 balls with the help of 14 fours. However, Azaan Awais had written the script of his century in the debut innings of his debut Test on the 152nd ball itself. In this way, he became the 14th batsman to score a century in the debut test for Pakistan.

Name registered among 14 players

Before Azan Awais, the Pakistani batsmen who scored centuries in the debut test included Kamran Ghulam, Abid Ali, Umar Akmal, Fawad Alam, Yasir Hameed. The names of Taufiq Umar, Younis Khan, Azhar Mahmood, Ali Naqvi, M. Wasim, Salim Malik, Javed Miandad and Khalid Abdullah.

Third Pakistani to do so, this happened after 17 years

Azaan Awais is the 14th batsman to score a century in the debut test for Pakistan but is only the third Pakistani to do so away from home. He has ended the wait of 17 years in this case. Fawad Alam scored a century against Sri Lanka and Umar Akmal scored a century against New Zealand on his Test debut away from home in Pakistan. Both these batsmen had achieved this feat in 2009. Now the name of Ajan Awais has also been added to that list, who has scored a century on Test debut in Bangladesh after 17 years i.e. in 2026.
