Mumbai: The ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise has emerged as a major success in Bollywood, reviving box office momentum and drawing huge audience response across India.

Even as ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ completed 50 days in theatres and gears up for its OTT release, producer Jyoti Deshpande’s latest remarks have triggered speculation about a possible third installment in the franchise.

Following the massive success of actor Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, producer Jyoti Deshpande hinted that the story universe of Hamza Ali Majari is far from over.

Speaking to a media outlet recently, Jyoti Deshpande said the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise is “not over yet” and revealed that the makers are planning a “big surprise” for audiences by the end of this year.

“We are not done with the Dhurandhar series yet. We are planning a big surprise for audiences by the end of this year. Something new is in the works,” she reportedly said.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, both ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ performed strongly at the box office. Following the producer’s comments, discussions have intensified over whether ‘Part 3’ is being planned or if a spin-off project is under development.

Amid growing rumours about a third installment, veteran actor Rakesh Bedi offered a contrasting view.

“I do not think a third part will happen. According to the story, the spy returns to his country and the journey ends there. However, since this is now a franchise, it could continue with different actors,” he reportedly said.

According to industry sources, the much-talked-about “surprise” expected by the end of 2026 may not necessarily be another film. Reports suggest the makers could instead release a documentary featuring the making of the two films.

The project is expected to include behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive interviews with cast and crew members, possibly in the form of a feature-length documentary for theatrical release.

Overall, fans of Ranveer Singh are eagerly waiting for what the franchise has planned next.
