Sanjeev Arora ED Raid Punjab GST Scam: There was a stir in the politics of Punjab on Friday morning when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team took major action at the premises of Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora. After simultaneous raids at several places including the government residence in Chandigarh, now the news of his arrest has come to light quoting sources. Although there is no official confirmation from the ED yet, this development has created a stir in the Punjab government and political circles.

According to the information, at around 7:25 am on May 9, the ED team along with heavy security force reached the minister's residence in Sector-2, Chandigarh. The convoy of about 20 vehicles and the presence of more than three dozen CIA and SF personnel created a sensation in the area. It is being told that this is the third major raid in the last one year and the second major raid in just one month.

Simultaneous action taken in many cities

According to sources, the ED simultaneously raided the offices of Hampton Sky Realty Ltd in Chandigarh, Gurugram and Delhi as well as the residences of Sanjeev Arora. The agency is reportedly probing documents related to financial irregularities, fake GST billing and money laundering. After this action, discussions have intensified in Punjab politics. The opposition has called it a major action against corruption, while at present no detailed reaction has come from the ruling party.

What are the allegations against Sanjeev Arora?

According to sources, Sanjeev Arora and his associated network are accused of making fake GST bills worth more than Rs 100 crore. Investigating agencies claim that Input Tax Credit (ITC) was availed wrongly through fake bills related to mobile phone business. Apart from this, serious allegations of money laundering have also been made against him. Investigation has reportedly revealed that illegal money was brought to India through 'round trip' from Dubai and GST refund and duty drawback was availed.

The investigating agencies are also probing whether government revenue was harmed by converting industrial land into residential projects. Besides, allegations of investing money related to illegal betting in the real estate sector have also come to light.

Action under PMLA

According to sources, ED has taken this action under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency is also investigating documents, bank transactions and the network of alleged shell companies.

There have been raids before too

Sanjeev Arora has been on the radar of investigating agencies earlier also.

  • In the year 2024, when he was MLA from Ludhiana West, his premises were raided regarding the land scam.
  • In April 2026, action was taken under FEMA at 13 locations including Gurugram, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
  • On April 18, 2026, his house in Ludhiana was also raided.

After continuous investigations and raids, the news of his arrest has raised many questions in political circles.

Awaiting official confirmation

At present, no official statement has been issued by ED regarding the arrest. However, sources claim that after questioning and examining the documents, the agency has taken a big step. Now all eyes are on the official press release of ED and the upcoming legal action.
