AJUP chief Humayun Kabir has announced to refuse alliance with BJP and sit in the opposition. Meanwhile, Subhendu Adhikari has been elected the leader of the BJP legislature party and will be the next Chief Minister of Bengal. BJP has won 207 seats in the elections.
Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief Humayun Kabir on Friday rejected all speculations about an alliance with the BJP. He made it clear that after the recent election results of West Bengal, his party will sit in the opposition. Speaking to ANI, Humayun said, "There is no question of an alliance with the BJP. Subhendu Adhikari has won on two seats, so he will have to leave one seat. There should be a by-election on that seat as soon as possible... We will sit in the opposition only. What is the need for an alliance? They win with majority... As Modiji says, 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas', if things work out that way then I have no problem." Is."

Humayun lashed out at Mamta
Humayun Kabir also made a sharp political attack on the recent meeting between Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders. On this he said, "Where was Akhilesh Yadav when the campaign was going on for two months? Then he should have come to Mamata Banerjee and supported her. Abhishek Banerjee goes to Rahul Gandhi's house every morning to have tea. Then why did Rahul Gandhi field candidates against Mamata Banerjee? Mamata Banerjee is a liar..." His statement has raised the political temperature amid the announcement of election results in West Bengal and preparations for government formation.
Mamta-Akhilesh meeting
Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had come to Kolkata and met Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. There was discussion about the situation after the elections and irregularities in voting. Akhilesh accused the BJP of "mafiagiri at multiple levels" during the elections and demanded the release of CCTV footage of polling stations. Meanwhile, Subhendu Adhikari has been elected the leader of the West Bengal BJP legislature party. With this, his path has been cleared to become the first BJP Chief Minister of the state.
CM Shubhendu
Union Home Minister Amit Shah made this announcement after attending the party meeting in Kolkata as a central observer. It is expected that Shubhendu can take oath on the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. Party leader Nishith Pramanik also supported Subhendu Adhikari as chief minister, saying there was "no alternative" to him. He also said that infiltration and border security will now be one of the most important tasks. Subhendu Adhikari, who defeated Mamata in Nandigram as well as Bhawanipur, also met the newly elected BJP MLAs before discussing government formation. Let us tell you that BJP has won 207 seats in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. At the same time, after being in power for 15 years, Trinamool Congress has got 80 seats.
