A deeply troubling incident has emerged from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a son-in-law reportedly took his own life due to severe harassment from his wife and mother-in-law. The situation escalated to such an extent that the victim felt suicide was his only escape. Following a complaint from the deceased's family, a case has been registered against three individuals, including the wife and mother-in-law.
According to police reports, a young man hanged himself in the Shyam Puri Colony. The victim's brother filed a complaint against his wife, mother-in-law, and an acquaintance at the local police station. Authorities have conducted a post-mortem examination and returned the body to the family.
Currently, the police are investigating the case. Reports indicate that Saurabh, the son of Mahavir, married Shalu from the Sahgajadyan locality on July 2, 2021. The couple has a four-year-old son. Saurabh's brother, Ravi Saini, alleged that prior to their marriage, Shalu was acquainted with a man named Robin from the local area.
It is alleged that Shalu and her mother, Mamtesh, along with Robin, pressured Saurabh to pay five lakh rupees and sell property to support their lifestyle, which he resisted. The trio reportedly threatened him with false legal charges and even physical harm. They also isolated him from his family. Overwhelmed by continuous mental torture and family strife, Saurabh ultimately chose to end his life.
Investigation Underway
Upon receiving the report, police took possession of the body for post-mortem. Late Friday night, Ravi Saini lodged a report against Shalu, her mother, and Robin at the local police station. The City SP, Vyom Bindal, confirmed that the body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem, and an investigation has commenced based on the brother's complaint against the three accused.
